Slide show related fields (image, summary, sort order, feature on home page) were added to content types to be controlled by Education staff. An RSS view was created using these fields. A template file for the RSS view was built to display desired fields. The Flash slide show loads and parses the XML, and displays a slide show from there, linking back to the nodes. With more experience and working with the team, I'm hoping to contribute similar functionality to the Drupal community in the future. It could be a way to draw more visitors to the Space Foundation? While the designs will always be a work in progress, working with Drupal has allowed the team to not think about Drupal so much and focus on other things like design. Having the designs separate from the functional aspects also allows me to scrap designs and apply new ones when they get old (by next year maybe?). :) There are some limits, but the flexibility helps greatly.
